(I've just written to ask which versions are on his MAC/pc.Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Redmond, Washington. We are baffled about why I have to 'import' the xml file and he didn't, for his pc.Ĭan you shed any light on this? I'm using ppt 2010. He swears he did not re-create the colors there, and he did not send himself the xml file. However, I can't explain how it showed up on his PC. I'm thinking the xml file doesn't travel with the template. However, when he sends the file to anyone else, it's not there. He sent the file to his PC, and insists that the customized color is on the drop down list. I raise the question because the creator made the template and color theme on his MAC. This surprises me, though, as I would think Microsoft/ppt would make this transparent to the end-user of a template. I have an additional question related to this subject.ĭoes a customized color theme automatically transfer with a ppt template file (potx) when the creator of the template sends it to another user? I think not, because I didn't get it, and that was the whole reason for this thread, and the reason I had the creator send me the xml file. I suppose I can recreate it, but it seems that I should be able to import it somehow. Though I can save a theme someone sends it to me, how do I get their customized palette to show on my list of colors? Do they have to send me their thmx and xml files and I put them in the right place? Or, does it really not matter whether the colors show on the list? I think they should show on the list so that I can use them in other presentations without having to apply the whole theme. I believe it appears twice in my filing system, once as an xml file and another time as a thmx file.
When I save a theme I create, it does, of course, show up on my list. I have created my own custom color/theme, so I see how it works and where a customized set of colors appears (above Built-in). (When I click on Colors in the Design tab.)Ģ. Even so, the customized color name does not show up in my list of custom colors.

I know how to browse for themes and apply the theme so it shows up in the design thumbnails on my computer. Another user sent me a ppt file and template that has the theme and colors I want. Let me say a few words about what I understand about using themes and colors first.ġ. I'm trying to add a color theme created by someone else to my computer's list of colors for use in PowerPoint 2010.
